SAD # 60 NEW Budget Voting Process The Transfer Station is continuing to collect donations for the local food pantry. The results look GREAT!! Thank you Tuckahoe Turf and Prime Tanning for donating gloves. Bags are still available at the Town Hall for road-side pick-up. ************************************************** MAINE'S NEW PRIMARY SEAT BELT LAW IS EFFECTIVE APRIL 1 How is the new primary belt law different from the old safety belt law? The biggest change is that the new law allows police officers to pull over a motorist because they are not wearing a safety belt. Under the old law a driver had to have been pulled over for another motor vehicle law and if they were unbelted they would have received a citation. What is the fine for not complying with the new law? Since the law went into effect in September 2007, unbelted motorists have received written warnings under the education phase of the law. April 1, 2008 marks the beginning of the citation phase. § 1st violation: $50 § 2nd violation: $125 § 3rd and subsequent violations: $250
