The Town of Berwick serves as an agent for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife (IF&W) for the registration and re-registration of boats.

If you are registering a boat for the first time, you will need the following information.
- Bill of Sale - Indicating year-make-length-horsepower & price. Make sure it is signed and dated.
- If the boat has been registered in Maine before, you will need to bring in a copy of the previous owners registration. You will need the Maine Registration number.
Please make sure you bring all of the above information with you. The name on the Bill of Sale is the person that needs to come in to the office to register.
To re-register, just bring in the old registration.
Please advise clerk if any information on the boat/owner has changed.
You will pay an Excise Tax, which is computed on the boat's age, length and horsepower.
The registration fees are based on horsepower of the motor.
Lake & River Protection Sticker (Milfoil)
All boats that are launched in fresh water within the State Of Maine (even boats registered out of state) are required to display a Milfoil sticker alongside the registration sticker. The cost of purchasing a Milfoil Sticker $20. (non-residents).
